Description | ||
The Public meeting held on a Saturday, January 28th, 1950, at the Boat Shed on the Angelsea river proved important to Australian golfing scenes, as it led to the formation of the Angelsea Golf club. The club had first acquired 140 acres of virgin land for its premises, and soon, it added a sprawling area of 90 acres donated by Nicholas O’Donohue, and another 50 acres bought from Mr. P. Harvey. By March 1962, Mr O’Donohue sold another 82 acres of land on the western and northern boundaries of the course. The clubhouse called 19th hole started out from modest beginnings, in the form of an Old Tin Shed, but by 1953, Les Hadley completed work on the clubhouse. Gradually, it added improvements and layers over the years from 1955 to 1991. The official date of inception for the 1st Stage is the 1st of July, 1955. |
