Founded in 1972 to foster interest in outdoor and indoor sporting activities, the Stroud Country Club is the heart of Stroud, a picturesque hamlet located in the north of Newcastle (80 Kms) on the Buckett’s way, and about 50 Kms south of Gloucester. For the uninitiated, Bucketts way is what was once known as Old Pacific Highway, and provides an alternate route that presents a highway conduit at Taree. One of the most picturesque settings in Australia, the road is extremely safe and offers the tourist a picturesque drive through gorgeous landscapes. While driving, one could also take a detour at Gloucester, ending up at Thunderbolts way, and the New England highway. From there on, one could choose reach Barrington Tops, Tamworth and even Uralla Armidale.
